The Coton Community Health Survey
This survey is the first step for any breed toward the establishment of an open health registry with genetic pedigree information freely available to all. The survey is confidential and anonymous. We insist that no information regarding the name of the dog, owner or breeder be revealed.. The results of the survey are sent to the Earthlink ISP server, and an email is forwarded from this server directly to a third party for automatic forwarding to members of the worldwide Coton Breeders Forum and other interested parties. The respondents cannot be identified because there is no human intervention The email containing the information on the survey form submitted originates anonymously from the server mailbox. A specimen of the email produced is shown at health survey sample result. As information becomes available, it is manually incorporated as soon as possible (within a few days) into a database maintained at healthsurveyresults. From this information, statistics can be compiled for predictive genetic pedigree analysis.
If you are completing a survey form for a Coton who has already been entered, please write in the comments section the age at original survey and include comments or distinguishing characteristics in the original survey to help us identify the dog. We will then delete the original information and add the new information without adding another dog to the database.
NOTE: Some of the terms in the survey are quite technical. If you don't know what they mean, don't worry. Just fill in what you know.
Click on Health Survey Results to see the comments from the Health Survey and the Database of Results.
We request anyone who owns a Coton to fill in as much of the information as possible and submit the form. Please fill in information only for dogs you own. If you don't know the answer to a question just leave it unchecked. We also request that you describe your dog's temperament and personality in the space provided.
